Freddy Bellette Season 1 Episode 14

On this episode, Brad hosts special guest Freddy.

Freddy is an aspiring YouTuber, believes Fergalicious is a band from the eighties and is Brad's youngest son.

The perspective shift is great as Brad and Fred discuss what they couldn't live without, the fact that math is still boring and what the future could hold.

Fred's YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW_L2ysMGtUgk3sXR3NLBLg

Brad:

My name is Brad Bellette C E O of H6. and we're doing something a bit different for episode. 14, 15, 16. I'm not sure where we're at 5,024 of The Invisible Skyscrapers Podcast and I'm here with my good friend, and son, Freddy Bellette. How are you Fred?

Fred:

I'm good. Thanks.

Brad:

Yep. So what's been going on today.

Fred:

Uh, nothing much, normal schoolwork for example, math, spelling, writing.

Brad:

Cool. All that stuff hey? Anything techy you've been doing anything techy today?

Fred:

Uhm no not really

Brad:

oh well you were just playing a game on your laptop.

Fred:

I mean, yeah, I was just

Brad:

And I told you to shut it down.

Fred:

And I did shut it down.

Brad:

SO, I've got some questions here from Leisa, and then we might have a bit of a chat about your resume. Um what's, the thing that you're most passionate about right now? I can sort of take a guess because you've got a hat on uh,

Fred:

At the moment I'm most passionate about my YouTube channel and I'm recording a T V series called The Captain. It's sort of, it was inspired by Doctor Who a British television show. The hat I'm wearing is a Fez. Because the Doctor wears, well, the 11th doctor wears fezs.

Brad:

So which one's the eleventh Doctor? What's his name?

Fred:

Matt Smith.

Brad:

Matt Smith. Okay. Yep. There goes Scuba making lots of noise. So keep going. Tell us all about The Captain.

Fred:

Well right now, The Captain is my good friend Liam Goods. Except soon, The Captain is going to regenerate into me.

Brad:

Right. So you're going to take the lead role are you?

Fred:

Yeah.

Brad:

Okay. so that's really that your thing at the moment is your YouTube channel, what's your YouTube channel name?

Fred:

Fredalicious

Brad:

Fredalicious on YouTube. check it out. Um, if you're listening to this, so search Fredalicious on YouTube.

Fred:

It'll actually come up with fergalicious first, but then click the thing that says instead, search for Fredalicious.

Brad:

Why did that happen? Is that a spelling mistake?

Fred:

Yeah, fergalicious is some kind of band. seventies band, I think.

Brad:

Okay. So you've gotta look for Fredalicious. Okay. Okay. So say that you're doing The Captain, what's the, what's the thing that you want to do with that? Like, what are you going to, how many shows are you going to make?

Fred:

How many shows? Do you mean how many seasons?

Brad:

Well season's....episodes.

Fred:

The seasons, I think I'm going to go for quite a long time because I've got quite a few friends, so who'd be happy to take the lead role of Captain So

Brad:

you just got to keep regenerating until you use all your friends up?

Fred:

Yup!.

Brad:

Okay. Fair enough. So check it out Fredalicious on YouTube. Now what's, I'm going to go into something else. What's the thing you're most afraid of?

Fred:

I'm not sure, actually.

Brad:

Oh, I can probably tell you

Fred:

What?

Brad:

creepy things in the night, maybe, spiders?

Fred:

Not spiders. I like spiders. Um, probably yeah. Creepy things in the night.

Brad:

Like a mouse nibbling your ear.

Fred:

No,

Brad:

no. A rat snake in your bed? A snake in my

Fred:

bed that would be terrifying Actually. snake in my bed depends what type of snake it

Brad:

It is. Yeah. Yeah. But I can tell you the thing you're most frightened of. No WiFi. Do you think. What do you think?

Fred:

I mean, if there's no wifi, I can always play offline games. So.

Brad:

but what about if you've got no way of playing a game or wifi? Would that be the thing you're most frightened off?

Fred:

I mean, I can just go and read a book.

Brad:

You could just read book couldn't you. Um, now what's something you're currently working on school, that you think is pretty cool and interesting?

Fred:

Uh, Denim Denizons actually, which is a group my mum made, and we're going to host the fashion parade at Ross Park School, in the day. It's not at night anymore because mum thinks um, the parents won't be out to get there.

Brad:

Yep. So What's that all about? What's denim Denizons about? Is it It's about

Fred:

den. Denim fashion, sustainable fashion. Recycling clothes,

Brad:

and your sort of taking old denim and repurposing it, aren't you? And putting new designs on it. So, what have you done with yours?

Fred:

Uh, I've made a Doctor Who themed jacket. I've got my name in Gallifreyan on the back circular Gallifreyan to be precise Of course. Um, I've got a little metal Dalek on the front.

Brad:

Yep.

Fred:

I've got some patches. Uh, well, a patch on the back with my custom Sonic screwdriver My, yeah. I've got some drawings on the front of different Doctors. Well, not different Doctors, different Doctors things. I've got a drawing on the front of a target of the Tardis and the writing

Brad:

it. sounds pretty much like you just live for Doctor who.

Fred:

really....I.... So really

Brad:

it should have been called doctor who denim.

Fred:

No there's lot other people in class. There's a

Brad:

True. True. So now you're D you're doing that. That's really cool and interesting. But what's the most super boring thing you'd have to do at school? Like snooze Fest.

Fred:

I'm going between math or spelling. I'm not really sure.

Brad:

So, which are you worse at?

Fred:

getting better at math, but I think it could be improved. So probably math.

Brad:

yeah so, but you find it boring. You find it boring, cause you find it hard or you just not that interested?

Fred:

Just not that interested.

Brad:

Okay. But you do realise the Time Lord, if you're a Time Lord, do you do need to know your maths.

Fred:

Aha. That's Gallifreyan math, not, earth math.

Brad:

But is there a difference? Is there?

Fred:

I'm guessing.

Brad:

Oh you're guessing are you?

Fred:

I'm guessing.

Brad:

So, what about, what about outside your school projects? You know, you're doing The Captain, you're doing the Doctor who thing with your mates? Is there anything else? No, not like your brother Who's blowing stuff up all the time and burning things. Is there anything else you're doing that's a project?

Fred:

Uhmmmm.

Brad:

Do Anything you're helping mum with? Apart from sleeping and eating, that's not really a project.

Fred:

Not really.

Brad:

No, it's just, what is it? Just the Doctor Who stuff is it?

Fred:

just the Doctor Who stuff.

Brad:

The Doctor Who stuff. Um, Of all the things in this world, which are tech. What's the one thing that you are glad it exists and you couldn't do without. You literally would just be like a lemming and jump off a cliff. If you didn't have it.

Fred:

Okay. So I can argue with that. Because I wouldn't really be anything. Cause if One thing just disappeared from the technology world. It wouldn't be that bad.

Brad:

Yeah but there's gotta be one thing that connects them all.

Fred:

Wi-Fi?

Brad:

True True so, if you had no internet connection. Literally, that'd be the, just the end of the time and space for you.

Fred:

No. I said that earlier in this episode, I can always play offline games. Uhm.

Brad:

But what about if you can't play games at all?

Fred:

I'd watch YouTube.

Brad:

But really internet is the thing. It's internet access.

Fred:

I mean, true unless you've got mobile data.

Brad:

Well, it's still the same. It's still internet access. Isn't So that's the one thing you are glad it exists. So we're just going to extend this a little bit further and jump in if you want to keep talking. What kinds of devices and software do you use the most at the moment?

Fred:

Um, I'm using my laptop. A lot, actually. to build The Captain episodes I'm more using my, well, technically Mum's iPad. But my laptop I'm using the most for school projects and gaming.

Brad:

Right. Okay, this is the big question. You have to think about this and you've got to answer me with everything, you know? You ready? You got to tell me, who are your favourite YouTubers? Right. I'm going to keep going on this and your favourite TikTokers.

Fred:

I don't watch TikTok.

Brad:

Well. you know, what about the guy that reviews the TikToks on YouTube. What's his name? LazarBeam.

Fred:

Oh, LazarBeam. Yeah, he's good.

Brad:

It's pretty funny. So, if you're thinking about LazarBeam, you're thinking about TikTok, the TikToks you do watch that might be on YouTube. Who's the favourite YouTubers that you like? And why.

Fred:

I definitely really like LazarBeam. One, because he's Australian YouTuber and two because he's really funny. The only thing I don't like that much about LazarBeam is that he rarely ever locked uploads. But the good thing is when he does upload, the video's always really funny.

Brad:

Yeah. Right. So Often does he upload?

Fred:

Ah wouldn't say that, long, I'd say maybe...

Brad:

Maybe. he's grown up too much. He's got too much to do.

Fred:

No, his career is in YouTube. Um, either maybe once. Once or. Once a month, twice. M, I mean every two months?

Brad:

About once a month. Now I've got one more question here, but I want, just want to have a quick look through your resume. Now it's got here. Um, interested in hobbies- horse riding? In five seconds. Tell me why you like it

Fred:

Really fun and relaxing.

Brad:

Cool. Do you ride like a sack of potatoes?

Fred:

Sometimes. Yes

Brad:

Yeah. Sometimes, Uh, you've got in here, you've done a bit of tap dancing, a bit of Totem Theatre, Comic Club. Do you still do Comic Club?

Fred:

Not really after me and Harry. The other lead Comic Club member went into different grades. I mean, different classes, we kind of just stopped doing that.

Brad:

Harry's uh, handle is... Waffle.

Fred:

Yes, Danger Waffle

Brad:

And yours Fredalicious.

Fred:

Yep.

Brad:

Okay. So that's Comic Club. Uh, things you like to do in your spare time, which we've already covered. You've got play online games, enjoy Doctor Who and peruse.

Fred:

Yeah, that was

Brad:

a uhm it just be watch YouTube?

Fred:

Yeah that was a uhm. I I'm suggestion Grammarly came up with, so I was like, ah, what the hell? Why not?

Brad:

you've got school subjects that interest me are media arts, coding and technology, which kind of goes along with the gaming thing. Now you have got a lot of awards. You got the Australian Spelling Bee State Finalist. I didn't even know about that.

Fred:

Oh yeah I was.

Brad:

Yeah, that was this year. How come I didn't know about that?

Fred:

Didn't think you'd be interested.

Brad:

Oh there you go. 2021 Arrernte Award, 2021 Terrific Kid Award, co founding member of the comic club, we just said, 2019 the Eisteddfod, first place in prepared reading. 2019 Lego junior Lego league junior amazing movement award. I didn't even know about that one either

Fred:

Oh, yeah. Um, I did that one.

Brad:

Yeah. 2019 RDA dressage. And then it goes all the way down when you get a younger and younger and younger and then in 2015, um, you helped mom out the C R M I fundraising. Because, um, that was, uh, to do with your cancer. Wasn't it?

Fred:

Yeah.

Brad:

Do you want to tell us a little bit about the cancer?

Fred:

Um, I had cancer when was it. When I was

Brad:

was a baby.

Fred:

Yeah. When I was a baby. I've got through it now, but I'm just lucky I can't remember it.

Brad:

Yeah. My phone's pinging all over the place. I'll just turn it off. But we went down to see Dr. Jeff recently. Didn't we? We went down to Westmead.

Fred:

We did, we did.

Brad:

Yup. And what'd you think of that?

Fred:

It was quite a nice experience to actually learn who my doctor was that helped in the cancer journey.

Brad:

Was it a surprise when he told you. all the things.

Fred:

Not really. I've learned about them before.

Brad:

Yeah. Yeah. But it was good to go in the hospital to see where yeah. Now we'll just cover this off and then I've got one more question. I won't keep you for too much longer from your laptop. Now it says here, future aspirations. in your CV, you want to grow up to be a YouTuber. Now I love this. I love this in your CV. I think everyone should have their CV with that's listening to this like that. When I grow up, I'd like to be a YouTuber. Now, if I read resumes like that, that'd be very cool. I'd be very excited. If That doesn't work out. I want to be a toy tester. If that doesn't work out, I want to be a film director. And if that doesn't work out, I want to be a special effects editor.

Fred:

Yeah. I've got a lot of backup plans. Yes.

Brad:

But all the people that are listening to this, because a few people have actually listened to this Invisible Skyscrapers. If I read a resume like that, I'd actually be quite impressed. The fact that somebody's got so many ambitions. Now it says here"I am very creative". You consider yourself creative.

Fred:

I consider myself creative.

Brad:

Yep. Do you consider yourself a good storyteller?

Fred:

Oh, In the aspects of filming and writing out the script, maybe. Yes.

Brad:

And how old are you again?

Fred:

11.

Brad:

11. So that's pretty cool. Um, it says here I've already shown a strong interest in exploring special effects. So, what do you use mostly for your editing and your special effects?

Fred:

since the, um, app. I really liked using FX master, I'm pretty sure it was called, got removed from the app store. I can't really use that big special effects sort of thing. So I try to use more green screening and practical effects

Brad:

and you're 11 and you're green screening.

Fred:

Yeah, it's easy. got an app called Videoleap. Yeah.

Brad:

Do you want to tell everyone listening what you own? That's like a green screen thing.

Fred:

Um, I own a green-screen morph suit. So.

Brad:

just to explain, because people are listening to this, they don't know what a morph suit is. What is it?

Fred:

It's a full body covering, including your face and no eye holes, no mouth holes. It's still very breathable. There's a zip up at the back and it's entirely in one color. It can be also different costumes. Like you could get a Spider-Man morph suit, for example. I chose the green screen morph suit because

Brad:

you look like a, Giant's not,

Fred:

Yes. Except that when you chroma key me out. You can't even see me.

Brad:

And you go down town in it. And people just go, oh, look, there's Fred. Um, now. I've. got one last question for you. My last question is, as your Dad, what do you think I do all day?

Fred:

Work.

Brad:

Yeah but more than that. What do you think we do here?

Fred:

Advertising mostly.

Brad:

Yeah, we do a bit of that. What about H6?

Fred:

Hut Six....

Brad:

I obviously don't talk about it enough with you

Fred:

No, you more talk about bellette. Honestly.

Brad:

Yeah. So, do you want me to explain what H6 does? Um, you know, how you play those games. We kind of do stuff like that. We do software and we do stuff that helps people. So, you know how you were saying before about, you know, some things at school are a bit boring. we make software that makes jobs less boring and actually it means that you don't have to do that stuff, which is super boring

Fred:

True. But you also use software to make that software.

Brad:

That's true, and we have software people who make that software to do the software, to produce the software for the software that people use.

Fred:

Okay.

Brad:

what's your favourite joke? You got any jokes?

Fred:

Oh no, I'm all out of jokes today.

Brad:

really?

Fred:

Some days, I just can't think of any.

Brad:

Well, do you know the one about what do you call a man floating in a pool?

Fred:

Oh uhm, Bob.

Brad:

Yeah, exactly. So we might, did you, anything else you want to say, mate?

Fred:

Um, no, not really,

Brad:

no? Any shout outs to any people? And what was the name of your YouTube channel again?

Fred:

Fredalicious

Brad:

Fredalicious. So search that online. If you're listening to this Fredalicious and check out the latest episodes, have you updated your Captain episodes?

Fred:

Uh, we've got two Captain episodes now,

Brad:

right. So check out the latest Capitan episodes, which is like a uh, like a sort of an offshoot, would you say it's a prequel or a sequel? What would you say?

Fred:

I'd say the first episode is more of a pilot episode. And also be aware that the acting isn't very good in the first episode, but it gets way better in the second.

Brad:

So hang in there on the first episode. everybody that's hang in there and the second episode is better and the third and the fourth will get better again. so it's a pilot, but is, is the Captain series before he meets the Doctor or after?

Fred:

Well, technically. The Captain is the Doctor's son along with two other brothers, one older and one younger.

Brad:

Okay. So it's like an extension of the Okay. Cool. So look out for it. The Captain on YouTube under Fredalicious and stay tuned. There is two episodes there at the moment. There'll be more... when?

Fred:

Whenever me and my friends get together again. I'm not really sure.

Brad:

So there's no production deadline at this point.

Fred:

no, no production We should probably make a production deadline.

Brad:

We should. Thanks, Fred. Thanks for coming in and talking to us on the H6 podcast. And, uh, the Invisible Skyscrapers. So we'll make sure that everyone looks out for Fredalicious on YouTube. Uh, up and coming YouTuber. Do you think you'll ever do TikTok

Fred:

TikToks more a series of short videos so that you scroll

Brad:

Well, maybe you can promote the Captain on Any last words?

Fred:

Uh,

Brad:

No, not really.

Fred:

No, not really.

Brad:

Okay. So see you later to everybody. You want to say, see you later, Fred?

Fred:

See you later..

Brad:

Fred. That's it. From the Invisible Skyscrapers podcast. For episode uh, I think it's 14, 15, 16, 300,000, whatever it is Um, I'm Brad Bellette, the CEO, and we will catch up with you soon.
